TDI (toluene diisocyanate) is one of the commonly used polyisocyanates, while polyisocyanates are polyurethane (PU) materials and important base materials. Commonly used TDI in the polyurethane industry is a mixture of 2,4-TDI and 2,6-TDI isomers, including three commonly used grades: TDI-80/20, TDI-100 and TDI-65/35. The preceding figures indicate the amount of 2,4-TDI in the composition. For example, 80 in TDI-80/20 represents 80% 2,4-TDI and 20% 2,6-TDI; 100 in TDI-100 represents essentially 2,4-TDI %), 2,6-TDI isomers are few. Mainly used in the production of flexible polyurethane foam and polyurethane elastomers, coatings, adhesives and so on.
3. A method of capillary gas chromatography (GC) for the analysis of toluene diisocyanate was proposed. The separation capacity of toluene diisocyanate isomers was determined by coating the column with an elastic quartz capillary column, using a special GC stationary phase, an aryl carboxylate liquid crystal and a cyclodextrin derivative. The effects of flow rate and temperature on the separation were investigated, and the optimum GC stationary phase for toluene diisocyanate was selected. Separation of tolylene diisocyanate isomers using a special capillary gas chromatographic stationary phase. The method is simple, rapid, accurate and suitable for industrial analysis and environmental monitoring of toluene diisocyanate isomers.
