This standard replaces GB 338-92 Industrial methanol (obsolete).

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation, storage and safety of industrial methanol.

This standard applies to industrial methanol synthesized from coal, tar, natural gas, light oil and heavy oil. The product is mainly used in chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, pesticide industry, and can also be used as fuel.

This standard was replaced by GB 338-2011 Industrial methanol on August 1, 2012.
