This document specifies the method for determining the hydrogen content (mass fraction of H in Si-H) in hydrogen containing silicone oil using headspace gas chromatography. This document is applicable for the detection of hydrogen content in high hydrogen silicone oil, low hydrogen silicone oil, and end hydrogen silicone oil.
Silicon hydrogen bonding (Si-H) produces hydrogen gas when it encounters potassium hydroxide aqueous solution, and the amount of hydrogen gas produced is proportional to the content of H in Si-H. The chemical reaction principle is as follows. Place the sample in a sealed headspace bottle, add an excess of potassium hydroxide aqueous solution, and generate hydrogen gas through reaction. Use a headspace gas chromatograph to detect the hydrogen content and calculate the hydrogen content.
