六氟化硫是一种无色无味、不可燃的人造惰性气体,具有良好的电气绝缘性能及优异的灭弧性能,被广泛应用于微电子技术、金属冶炼、航空航天、医疗、化工等领域。六氟化硫本身无毒,在电气设备中经电晕、火花及电弧放电作用会产生多种有毒、腐蚀性气体。六氟化硫的密度大约是空气的5倍,空气中六氟化硫含量过大会出现使人窒息的。

Sulfur hexafluoride is a colorless, odorless, and non flammable artificial inert gas with excellent electrical insulation and arc extinguishing properties. It is widely used in microelectronics technology, metal smelting, aerospace, medical, chemical and other fields. Sulfur hexafluoride itself is non-toxic, and it can produce various toxic and corrosive gases through corona, spark, and arc discharge in electrical equipment. The density of sulfur hexafluoride is about 5 times that of air, and excessive levels of sulfur hexafluoride in the air can cause suffocation.
Haohan chromatography uses a series of 2 m × 4 mm isooctyl sebacate: Porapak Q = 2 :  100 and 1 m × 4 mm 6402 silica gel columns/gas chromatography thermal conductivity method were used to determine sulfur hexafluoride in workplace air, with high column efficiency, good separation, and satisfactory results.
