Natural gas has the characteristics of being colorless, odorless, flammable, and explosive, making it difficult for people to detect when natural gas leaks. THT is a colorless, odorless, and non-toxic gas commonly used as an odorant in natural gas to detect leaks in a timely manner. The amount of tetrahydrothiophene added to natural gas is generally 20-25mg/nm3.
There is currently no device available on the market for measuring the content of tetrahydrothiophene, and only experience can be used to add tetrahydrothiophene to natural gas. It is impossible to confirm whether the concentration of tetrahydrothiophene added in the gas pipeline network meets the standard. Insufficient addition will not reach the safety threshold, while excessive addition will result in resource waste.
