挥发性有机化合物(volatileorganiccompound，简称挥发性有机物)泛指沸点范围在50℃250℃的化合物，按照世界卫生组织的定义，挥发性有机物是指25℃下饱和蒸～气压超过133.32pa，在常温下以蒸气形式存在于空气中的一类挥发性有机物。

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) refer to compounds with boiling points ranging from 50 ℃ to 250 ℃. According to the definition of the World Health Organization, VOCs refer to a type of volatile organic compound that exists in the air in the form of vapor at room temperature, with a saturated vapor pressure exceeding 133.32pa at 25 ℃.
The main sources of volatile organic compounds include industrial waste gas, automobile exhaust, incomplete combustion of household fuels and tobacco leaves, and indoor building decoration materials. The industrial waste gas generated during the production process of chemical factories is the main source of volatile organic compound pollution in the atmosphere, and most of it is mainly composed of benzene derivatives. For example, in the production of PX factory, the main component of the waste gas is benzene, and the remaining part is almost the homologues of benzene, toluene and dimethyl benzene. These pollutants are easily absorbed by the human body through the respiratory system and skin, posing a threat to the nervous system and even causing cancer and deformities. Therefore, the detection and research of harmful volatile organic compounds in industrial waste gas have received widespread attention, and various countries have formulated corresponding emission standards.
