甲醇是无色透明、具有高度挥发性的液体,易与水、醚及大多数有机溶剂混溶。在医药、化工等产品的生产过程中作为原料、溶剂被广泛使用。甲醇在人体内氧化为甲醛、甲酸,具有很强的毒性,尤其对视神经的毒性作用*大。一次摄入4g以上,即可引起急性中毒,致盲剂量约7-8 ml,致死剂量为30—40ml。长期少量摄入可导致慢性中毒,除头痛、头晕、消化功能紊乱外,其特征性的临床表现为视野缩小及不能矫正的视力减退。
